Enjoying a break with lots of park trips!

This week we were lucky to have another 4 day week and we really enjoyed taking a break and going to the park a lot. The children were interviewed about their dioramas as part of the final assessment for this unit of inquiry. Our sight words for this week are: so, like, they, be and last week's words were: he, she, but and on. In phonics we have learnt about "bossy r" or vowels that change when the the letter r controls them /ar/, /er/ and /ir/.For a craft lesson that also tied into maths, we made necklaces and bracelets with a pattern. Ms Yui taught the children about shapes in Japanese through a bingo game. We hae been singing Halloween songs sine last week and we will do some raft related to it too! Here is one of the songs

Making dioramas of life cycles and our field trip

Hello!
This week we started learning how to count on in maths. E.g, I wrote the number 45 on the board and asked the children what number came next. We also learnt how to make a pattern with blocks and we looked at patterns in a row of shapes as well as in numbers such as skip counting.

Our new sight words for this week are: that, get, do and am. On Monday, we identified words starting and ending with /th/ and learnt about the /sh/ sound, doing another cut and paste.

In inquiry, we planted some mint, broccoli sprouts and marigold seeds as part of an experiment for our unit of inquiry on living things. We started working on our dioramas this week. The children have chosen a wide variety of animals to make their life cycle displays. For example, polar bear, rabbit, parrot, turtle, butterfly, dinosaurs, dog, and fish.

Twice this week Azuhisa finished his lunch within 30 minutes, demonstrating the Learner Profile of balanced.
Juni gave Rudraksh his sweater to wear when he was cold, demonstrating the Learner Profile of caring.
