We finishing Unit 3: Sharing resources helps the world.

Today we completed our final assessment for the inquiry unit. This week we learnt about the different resources that countries have, and the children had to choose a country and make a poster to advertise the resources of their country. This morning we set up the classroom as a trading room where the children sat at a table with their poster and had to encourage the other children to come and get resources that they needed. This is what the posters looked like:
For example, one child did Australia so she had lots of fruit, wheat, soy beans and meat. But she didn't have clothing, cars, trains or oil. So she went to countries such as the USA, South Korea, Japan and Mexico to find those things. Another child had China, so he had clothing, trains, cars, rice and toys. So he went to India, Russia and South Africa to get oil, diamonds, meat and trains. The children we told that they needed to get all the important resources that their country needed to survive. We had talked about 'needs and wants' in a previous lesson and they were reminded of that before the activity started. By the end, the children should have had all the essential resources such as a variety of food, oil, transportation, materials to build houses and clothing.
This week's sight words were: sat, away, please, ran and what. In phonics we did the blends /gr/ and /br/.
In maths, we learnt about doubles and number bonds.
